Upscale an image without losing sight of the original

Thague includes an AI image upscaler in the Edit tab. Choose Upscale, add an image and select the available model and size. It is a separate workflow from text-to-image generation and does not need an editing instruction.

Know what upscaling can and cannot do

Upscaling creates a larger output, but a larger file is not proof that the original detail has been recovered. AI models may estimate textures or sharpen edges that were unclear in the source. This can suit a creative illustration, but it needs care with text, logos, product details and images used as evidence.

Work from the best available source

Use the original image rather than a screenshot or an repeatedly compressed copy. Decide what you need the output for before selecting the size. A larger output may be useful for a layout, while an unnecessarily large one can add file weight without improving the final viewing experience.

Compare meaningful details

After the run, inspect small lettering, facial features, patterns and object edges against the source. Evaluate the image at its intended display size as well as up close. If the output looks over-processed, try another supported model or reduce the requested size. Preserve the original alongside the result.

How to use it in Thague

  1. Add the source image in Studio → Edit.
  2. Choose Upscale and a model from the available choices.
  3. Select the output size and review the credit estimate.
  4. Run the upscale and inspect important details before downloading.

A useful quality check

Compare lettering on packaging and the edges of a product at the intended display size. Reject a result if it has changed the product, even if the image looks sharper.

What to check before sharing

Upscaling cannot reliably reconstruct facts that are absent from the source. It can introduce artificial detail, and output options vary by model. Do not treat the result as an untouched original photograph.

Questions

Do I need to write a prompt for image upscaling?

No. Thague's image Upscale tool uses your image and the chosen model and size; it does not require an instruction.

Can I upscale a generated image?

Yes. Select a result from your browser's Library or upload an image, then use Upscale in Edit. The run requires a plan and uses credits.
