Remove the background, keep the subject
The Background tool in Thague's Edit tab can remove an image's background or keep only the subject you name. It is useful when you want to isolate a product, an object or a person before preparing a new composition.

Choose a source with readable edges
Start with the clearest source you have. A subject with good contrast against its background is easier to inspect than one that blends into the scenery. Hair, glass, reflections, fine fabric and motion blur need particular attention. A background-removal result should be reviewed at a useful zoom level, not only as a small thumbnail.
Name what to keep
When an image contains several objects, use Keep only to identify the subject you want. A short, concrete description such as the red chair in the foreground is more useful than a broad request such as keep the important part. If you want to replace the surrounding scene rather than isolate the subject, instruction-based Edit may be a better fit.
Check the composition after removal
Inspect the silhouette for missing parts, leftover background and a light or dark fringe. If you place the result on a different backdrop, examine whether the original shadows and lighting still make sense. Keep the source file so you can retry without adding errors from previous edits.
How to use it in Thague
- Open Studio → Edit and add your source image.
- Choose Background and the removal mode you need.
- For Keep only, name the subject; review the estimated credit cost.
- Run the tool, inspect fine edges and download the result.
Example Keep only description
The red ceramic vase in the centre of the image, including its handle.
What to check before sharing
No automated cutout is perfect on every image. Fine edges and translucent materials may need another pass or manual cleanup in a dedicated editor. Check the downloaded file's format and transparency before using it elsewhere.
